Mineral Water Industry

Mineral water is that type of water, which contains dissolved substances or minerals that modify its taste. It is basically obtained from natural mineral springs. Water is the nectar of life. The need for drinking water deviates depending upon the physical activity and climate. For a normal man, it is calculated to be about 2 to 4 liters per day.

Increasing water pollution, water borne diseases, urbanization and increasing scarceness of pure water have made the bottled water market a big success. Shortage of drinkable water at tourist spots, railway stations, and public places has also added to the growth of this market.

India is one of the biggest hubs for mineral water packing machine industry. This has been possible due to plenty of technical expertise, inexpensive labor, and progressive government policies. There are many companies in India, which are leading exporters of mineral water pouch packing machines.

The Indian bottled water market is estimated at more than Rs 1,000 Crore and is growing at a big rate of 40%. There are more than two hundred bottled water brands and nearly 80% are local brands. Bottled drinking water is sold in a variety of packages: bottles in sizes of 330 ml, 500 ml, 1000 ml and also 20-50 liters big bottles. Water is also sold in pouches in sizes of 250ml. A different concept in mineral water marketing has recently entered the country. A number of companies have started manufacturing vending machines that dispense purified water into client's own containers.
